Grape Crush

Classification: Indica-leaning hybrid

Hook:
Grape Crush, also written as Grape Krush or Grapekrush, is a productive DJ Short hybrid known for sharp fruit, cured grape sweetness, colorful resinous flowers, and a long-lasting blend of euphoric mental stimulation and mild narcotic body relaxation. The original cultivar placed third in the Indica category at the 2005 IC 420 Growers Cup.

Lineage:
The original Grape Crush was bred by DJ Short, although its exact parent-to-parent lineage was not publicly documented. It is widely associated with DJ Short’s Blueberry family, with some references also connecting its background to Haze-influenced genetics. This heritage contributes berry and grape aromatics, colorful foliage, unusual leaf morphology, and a balanced head-and-body effect. It should not be confused with Mephisto’s Grape Crush, a newer autoflowering cultivar made from Grape Crinkle and Sundae Thumper.

Aroma / Flavor / Appearance:
Grape Crush commonly carries crushed grapes, ripe berries, sweet candy, flowers, earth, musk, herbs, and warm spice. Fresh flowers may smell sharper and more generally fruity, while a proper cure can bring forward the cultivar’s distinctive sweet grape character. Buds commonly develop large calyxes, heavy resin, lime-green and violet coloration, orange pistils, and a dense sugar-frosted appearance. Some plants display partially crinkled or deformed leaves, a recognized genetic trait that does not necessarily indicate poor health.

Effects & Use:
Grape Crush is generally described as euphoric, relaxed, happy, talkative, focused, tingly, and mildly sleepy. The experience may begin with an exciting but typically non-racy cerebral lift before developing into a warm, long-lasting body effect. It may suit relaxed social sessions, conversation, music, movies, creative reflection, or evening decompression. Larger servings may produce heavier eyelids and a more noticeably narcotic physical finish.

Medical / Wellness Use:
Patients may look to Grape Crush for stress, low mood, muscle tension, minor physical discomfort, inflammation-related discomfort, or difficulty relaxing. Its combination of a relatively functional cerebral effect and gradual body calm may appeal to patients who want relief without immediate heavy sedation. Potency can vary considerably between preserved DJ Short genetics and unrelated products using the same name, so batch-specific testing remains important.

Grow Notes:
The original Grape Crush generally flowers in approximately 7 to 9 weeks and is known for above-average yields, strong structure, large calyxes, and heavy flower production. It can be cultivated indoors or outdoors, with outdoor harvests commonly expected around late September to early October in suitable Northern Hemisphere climates. Growers should not automatically mistake its characteristic crinkled leaves for pest damage or nutrient stress. Canopy management, branch support, moderate feeding, airflow, humidity control, and a slow cure can help preserve its resin, coloration, and grape-forward flavor.

Lab Profile:
Public profiles connected to classic Grape Crush commonly place THC between approximately 12% and 20%, with low CBD generally around 0% to 1%. Higher-potency products are sold under the same or similar names, but they may represent different genetics or modern selections rather than the original DJ Short cultivar. Expected dominant terpenes may include myrcene, beta-caryophyllene, limonene, and pinene, supporting its grape-like, berry-sweet, earthy, spicy, and gently fresh aromatic character.

Patient Reminder

Strain names are not enough. Two products with the same strain name can feel different depending on grower, harvest, cure, storage, lab profile, terpene content, and individual biology.
